Baked Oats Recipe

Baked Oats Recipe

Baked oats are the perfect sweet breakfast and offer a tasty, low-sugar alternative for anyone with a sweet tooth. Packed with nutrients, baked oats can contain a healthy balance of carbs, protein and healthy fats to kickstart your day the right way.

Below is a nutritious baked oats recipe sourced from BBC Good Food, tweaked for an individual portion. All you need is an oven-proof baking dish or ramekin which serves one and a blender. Once you try this breakfast, you won’t look back!

Ingredients

  • 35g porridge oats
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • Spray oil or low calories spray to grease the dish
  • Your choice of toppings

Step One

To begin with, preheat your oven at 180C and place the oats into your blender, blending with a few pulses until the consistency resembles flour.

Step Two

Peel and dice your banana (the riper, the better for added sweetness) and add to the blended oats with the egg, baking powder and honey or maple syrup. Blend together until a smooth, batter-like consistency is created.

Step Three

Then use your spray oil or low calorie spray to cover the dish or ramekin to make sure the baked oats don’t stick to the dish.

Step Four

Pour your batter into the dish and bake for 15/20 mins until the top turns a golden brown colour and the oats feel firm.

Toppings

There are so many choices when it comes to topping your baked oats. Below are just some of our favourites…

  • Milk chocolate chips
  • White chocolate chips & raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Birthday Cake (sprinkles)
  • Milk chocolate hazelnut spread & strawberries

The possibilities are endless! This recipe will satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you full all morning, up until lunchtime.
